UNDER GOD creates elevated streetwear rooted in Haitian-American identity, quiet strength, and lasting craftsmanship.

David Metayer—entrepreneur, musician, artist, producer, and creative director—founded the brand Under God, which he created from a life lived between two worlds. David, born in Miami, FL, and raised in Brooklyn, NY, in the United States by a Haitian mother whose first languages were French and Creole, grew up between church, hip-hop music culture, strict Haitian discipline, and creativity. In elementary school he was often teased for being Haitian-American and for his mother’s accent, yet that same upbringing shaped his eye for dignity, empathy, presentation, and identity.

Before streetwear, there were collared shirts, ties, and clean silhouettes every day, from his mother’s affinity for European culture. She felt every boy should wear a suit and tie daily. David would have to wear wingtip shoes to the gym. He eventually convinced his mother to let him wear sneakers and jeans to school. David slept with his first pair of Jordans on his bed, being elated to show them off the next day in school. If you’re curious, his first Jordans were the red and white Jordan 6s. He has not looked back when it comes to streetwear. There’s an element of minimal, clean European cut to his approach to clothes with a clean, comfy construction to the clothes David wears and creates. Today, that memory becomes a modern language of minimalism, pride, and purpose.

Every piece in the Under God collection (PACK) carries meaning. “1804” marks the year Haiti became the first free Black republic. “One Haitian Under God” is the origin of the movement. The coat of arms represents unity, defense, and national pride. The blue and red carry heritage with restraint. And the minimal tees are a soft launch with a strong identity.

Spiritual but not preachy, the brand offers hope, dignity, and reverence in what we wear.

Faith. Family. Culture. Craft.

UNDER GOD starts with Haitian-American roots and grows into a wider cultural language. From Haiti to the world, the vision expands through thoughtful collections that honor identity, heritage, and hope.

The inspiration starts with his mother’s home, Haiti. David Metayer is ready to build for the world, under God, indivisible with liberty and fashion for all.
